Specifications

11 Year Warranty

World beating, best in class, eleven year manufacturer defect warranty.

Storage Capacity

96 Ampere hours (Ah). Dakota Lithium batteries provide consistent power for all 96 Amp hours. DL LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized SLA batteries. You get all the juice down to the last drop.

Voltage

48V (not intended for wiring multiple batteries in series, 48V systems only)

Energy

4,915 Watt hours (Wh) per battery (4.6 kWh power system)

Terminals

M8 bolt size. Easy to adapt to different connection needs. (Max torque 15 ft. lbs.)

Weight

77 lbs (35Kg). That's 80% lighter than a set of lead acid batteries, saving 300 lbs. of weight.

Size

20.5"L x 10.5"W x 8.66"H (520mm x 267mm x 220mm)

Battery Range

For carts with a max speed of 23 mph or less expect a battery range of 40 - 60 miles depending on cart model. For carts with a max speed of 27 mph expect a battery range of 30 - 40 miles. Wire 2 units in parallel to double the battery range.

Lifecycles (battery lifespan)

Up to 100% capacity for 2,000 recharge cycles (100%DOD), 80% capacity at ≥4,000 recharge cycles (80%DOD), 50% capacity at ≥6,000 (50%DOD - battery half life). The typical SLA has 500 cycles. Dakota Lithium batteries last so long that the price per use is a fraction of traditional batteries.

Operating temperature

Ideal for rugged & harsh environments. Much better than SLA or other lithium’s. -20°F min, +120°F max optimal operating temps (battery performs well down to -20°F). Avoid charging below 32°F.

Discharge

100A max continuous, 200A max pulse for 3-5 minutes. The flat discharge voltage curve provides a 75% bigger capacity then a SLA 100Ah battery.
Charge60A max, 57.6V recommended. Free 48V 8A LiFePO4 battery charger is included.

Includes active BMS protection

Contains a circuit that handles cell balancing, low voltage cutoff, high voltage cutoff, short circuit protection and temperature protection for increased performance and longer life. A LiFePO4 battery charger is required to turn the battery back on after a BMS cut off (included w purchase).

Certifications

All batteries are UN38 certified. Dakota Lithium's cells are UL1642 certified and have been tested per IEC62133 standards. Meets all US & International regulations for air, ground, train, & marine transport.

ISO 9001:2015

Dakota Lithium is ISO Certified per 9001:2015 standards, and select models are produced in ISO 14001 certified facilities.

Charger Included

Free 48V 8A LiFePO4 charger included. Dakota Lithium 48V batteries should be charged at 57.6 volts, higher than AGM or lead acid. Lead acid chargers will work, but will only charge the battery to 80% of capacity. Upgrade to 48V 15A charger for 2X the charging time.

FREE Freight Shipping

Free shipping included to lower 48 US states. Battery must ship via Freight and will be delivered on a shipping pallet.

How Much Power do I need for Solar Panels?

Each battery has 4.6 kWh of power storage. 48V has an efficiency advantage for solar energy systems (google 48V vs 12V for solar energy). 500 - 800 watts of solar panel capacity with a 48V solar charge controller would fully charge this battery daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

TWICE THE POWER?

Yes! Here at Dakota Lithium we build all of our batteries with lithium iron phosphate technology which has many distinct advantages over traditional batteries. Including 60% less weight, a charging speed that is up to 5X faster, and a significantly longer lifespan (5-10 years longer on average). One of the most noticeable advantages however is the flat voltage curve. Unlike a lead acid battery where the voltage drops as you use the battery a Dakota Lithium battery has a steady voltage for 99% of the battery's charge. That means you get all the power down to the last drop and double the usable power of traditional batteries.

ARE LITHIUM BATTERIES SAFE?

Dakota Lithium batteries are 100% safe & reliable. Our signature chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), does not contain rare earth elements (like Cobalt) or heavy metals, is non-toxic, including no lead or acid, is non-corrosive, does not off gas, requires no watering or maintenance, can be placed in any orientation, and unlike other lithium batteries will not explode or catch fire. In addition, each Dakota Lithium battery is protected from over heating, over charging, and short circuiting, by a battery management system (BMS) microchip that also extends the lifespan and is contained in a rugged, waterproof case (although enough water can conduct electricity between the terminals, so don't submerse the battery). For best performance & reliability we recommend using a LiFePO4 charger.

HOW DO I CHARGE A LITHIUM BATTERY?

Dakota Lithium batteries perform best when charged by a lithium compatible charger. Lead acid or SLA chargers, on-board chargers for AGM batteries, or other non-lithium chargers will charge a Dakota Lithium battery but only to 70-80% of capacity. This is because Dakota Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology charges and is full at a higher voltage then traditional batteries (Dakota Lithium charges at 14.4 Volts). Chargers with a lithium battery setting or designed for lithium will charge at the appropriate voltage.  For troubleshooting tips download the Dakota Lithium battery user manual here.

WILL COLD WEATHER AFFECT MY BATTERY?

Your Dakota Lithium battery will discharge normally between a range of -20F and 120F (-29C to 49C). DL batteries are commonly used among ice fishers for their flashers and ice augers, so they are quite resilient and are frequently used in cold climates. In cases of extreme cold however, it is recommended that the batteries be insulated. We also do not recommend charging our batteries below freezing temperatures. If you are planning to regularly charge your battery below freezing temperatures we recommend the DL+ 12V 135Ah battery which has an internal heating element and is optimal for use in cars, trucks, RVs, off grid solar, and any application where the battery will be charged regularly in extremely cold environments (like a North Dakota winter).

Shipping Policy

Orders are processed within 24-48 hours upon receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. Orders placed after 5 pm will be processed the next business day. Products ship FedEx or UPS Ground and will arrive in 5-8 days to most of the US. You will receive a tracking number when your battery ships.

Shipping costs for Dakota Lithium batteries are calculated per battery due to their classification as hazardous materials (hazmat), ensuring safe and compliant handling and transportation. Shipping costs to Alaska and Hawaii may be higher due to federal law that requires that batteries ship Air Freight and have Hazmat protection.

The USPS does not allow for batteries to be shipped to Post Office boxes (PO Box), for shipping address please use a street address.

All lithium batteries (LiFePO4 included) must be shipped via ground shipping. Typical delivery time in the US for in stock batteries is 5-7 business days plus 1-3 days lead time to pack and ship your battery. Lithium batteries cannot be shipped overnight, or express due to federal shipping restrictions.
